Policies are important because they show us we matter. This should help you understand and access official UMKC and University of Missouri systemwide policies.

Nondiscrimination Policies

University of Missouri System Nondiscrimination Policy

Nondiscrimination in student organizations

A student at the university assumes an obligation to behave in a manner compatible with the university's function as an educational institution and voluntarily enters into a community of high-achieving scholars. A student organization recognized by the University of Missouri also assumes an obligation to behave in a manner compatible with the university's function as an educational institution. 因此, students and student organizations must adhere to community standards in accordance with the University’s mission and expectations.

Chosen and Preferred Names

UMKC acknowledges that many students use names other than their legal name to identify themselves. Adding a chosen name does not change a student’s official name as a part of their educational record. Your official name is your legal name. Your official name is used for financial aid, 成绩单, international student I-20 and other documents required by the university.

Chosen names will be displayed in the 通路 student center, 通路 class roster and 通路 grade roster. Additionally, a preferred name may be used to change your Student ID and is displayed in other university-maintained software applications, such as Canvas.

Students who choose to take advant年龄 of this preferred name policy are subject to the University Collected Rules and Regulations, as well as the University of Missouri - Kansas City 接受able Use Policy 对技术.

Legal Name Change

歹徒, the UMKC Law School’s organization for LGBTQIA + law students and their allies, provides free consultations for UMKC students interested in a legal name change or birth certificate amendment. Law students will be supervised by a licensed attorney.

Reporting Harassment
